Quick Trigger Tips
Activating Triggers? They have to be there and be visible first!
- Triggering objects must be on the slide and visible to be able to be used as triggers.
If the triggering object has an entrance animation, you can’t use it to trigger until it has entered. If the triggering object has exited the slide, you can’t do the triggering.
- You cannot set an object to be a triggering object if it is a no fill, no line object (it won’t be able to be found when running the presentation with the Viewer or in HTML). You can get around this by giving the object a 100% transparent fill. It can be found, but won’t show. If the triggering object only has a line, you will have
to click on the line to activate the trigger.
- When running the presentation, your triggers can’t be started until you can see the cursor. Sometimes, that means after the first animation effect.
Need to triggering music or movies? Here's how!
Because music, sounds, and videos can be started via the animation task pane, they can also be controlled via a trigger. to do this, do these steps:
- Add the clip
- Set it up to not start automatically when asked
- Use the animation task pane to set up start, pause, and stop events
- Change those events to triggers just as you would any others
Finally: Make sure your triggers can be activated during the show
If an object is set to trigger an animation, the cursor will change to a hand when moved over the object. However: If there is an object on top of the trigger, the cursor will not change and the trigger cannot occur. So, always make sure that you do change the order of the objects to bring to front on any object that triggers an animation.
